FSU football: 3 huge overreactions to Boston College win
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football had a major scare in their 31-29 win Saturday afternoon over Boston College. The Noles were cruising with a 31-10 lead in the third quarter before allowing 19 unanswered points.
Did the Noles get off to a great start in the game? No. The defense allowed two huge broken plays on their first drive to give Boston College a 7-0 lead. The FSU offense only managed a field goal on their first possession, and the defense allowed Boston College to take a seven-plus minute drive and kick a field goal for a 10-3 lead.
That amount of time off the clock is huge because it decreases the margin of error for the offense, meaning if they don’t score on their second possession, they may only get three possessions in the first half. However, the defense bowed up and forced punts on three consecutive possessions to end the first half.
They got an interception on the first Boston College possession in the first half and forced a punt on the next one.
That’s five empty possessions after allowing 10 points on the first two drives. FSU was up 31-10 with 11 minutes to go in the game and was a play or two from blowing the doors off Boston College as bad as they started the game.
So keep that in mind when thinking about how bad they played. Here are three major overreactions from the game.
