FSU football: Noles are heavy betting favorites against Boston College
FSU football enjoyed a dominant performance on Saturday night, defeating the Southern Miss Golden Eagles by a commanding score of 66-13.
The Seminoles will travel to take on the Boston College Eagles in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, on Saturday, September 16th, at noon EST.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Florida State is listed as a 28.5-point road favorite in their matchup against Boston College.
For reference, head football coach Mike Norvell and company defeated Boston College in last season’s matchup by a score of 44-14 in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium. FSU asserted their dominance in the first half, where they got out to a 31-0 lead.
While the Seminoles were battling against the likes of a 1-2 Eagles team, they still had to contain quarterback Phil Jurkovec (who transferred to Pittsburgh this offseason), who completed 15 of his 23 passes for 105 yards with only one touchdown and two interceptions.
Unfortunately, this Boston College football team is reeling after losing in overtime to Northern Illinois at home, who were 8.5-point underdogs against the Eagles.
They brought in a new quarterback, former UCF transfer Tommy Castellanos. FSU might remember him from the 2022 recruiting cycle, where the Seminoles attempted to recruit him as a running back to pair alongside former three-star Rodney Hill.
Castellanos took a chance on himself and committed to UCF, where he could play at the quarterback position.
He has been solid during his first season as a starter with the Eagles, completing 30 of his 51 passes for 339 yards and four passing touchdowns. He has also showcased his dual-threat ability, where he has rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown.
The Seminoles have beaten Boston College 11 out of the last 12 seasons. The lone loss came in 2017 when FSU was defeated by a score of 35-3, a game many believe FSU players quit in the game.
With it being a noon kickoff start, the team will have to remain focused on the task at hand (beating Boston College) and not overlook the Clemson contest, which is looming ahead in Week 4.
