No. 4 FSU football took care of business against Southern Mississippi 66-13 late Saturday night, with the game ending near midnight.

The game likely took so long because both teams had a ton of incomplete passes in the first half. It wasn’t exactly a clean game offensively for the Noles, as Mike Norvell played a gazillion players at wide receiver and sat out two starters on the offensive line.

A couple of years ago, it may have been a struggle against a team like Southern Mississippi. However, it’s laughable now that FSU can look disjointed offensively and still put up 31 points with ease in the first half.

The defense stifled Southern Mississippi all night and held them to 70 total yards in the first half on only 23 plays. Southern Miss was 0-5 on third down and 4 of 13 on pass attempts, with nine rushing yards.

It was as dominant a half as you’d want while playing a ton of guys that don’t usually get starter reps. Hopefully, that’s something FSU fans remember when thinking back to this game.

Here are some of my major takeaways.
