FSU football has one less LSU player to account for when they play Sunday night. LSU head coach Brian Kelly communicated running back John Emery would not be available against the Noles Sunday night.

Ironically, Emery is the same running back that guaranteed LSU would beat the Noles before their matchup last year and didn’t get to play in the game. Emery missed all of spring camp because of academics.

Emery played in 11 games last season, amassing 375 rushing yards on 76 carries, with six touchdowns. He also caught 13 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

LSU has several running backs on the roster, but Emery is one of a few who will not play Sunday night. LSU running back Noah Cain and freshman Kaleb James will likely get the bulk of the carries.

I should note, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels led the team in rushing attempts and rushing yards last year. He accounted for most of their rushing success on scrambles last year against FSU.

I think it’ll be more of the same Sunday night, with LSU not finding much success on the ground from a traditional rushing attack.

However, Cain was third on the team in rushing attempts and yards, but second with 10 rushing touchdowns.

He’s a big and physical running back. He is a former top 100 player in the 2019 recruiting cycle who enrolled at Penn State before transferring to LSU before the 2022 season.

Cain had seven rushes for 23 yards and a touchdown in last year’s contest. Kaleb Jackson was the No. 12 ranked running back nationally and No. 181 player.

He has electric speed with a verified 10.66 100-meter time in high school. Will LSU trust a freshman in a game of this magnitude? I suppose we’ll find out on Sunday night.
