Sept. 3rd vs. LSU

This game is why FSU football remains one of the national brands in college football and why they need to get out of the ACC. FSU escaped with a one-point win last year, although they arguably should have blown the Tigers out.

FSU brings back more experience and upgraded at nearly every position. I think they have the edge at several positions in these matchups. Did LSU get better? I’m sure they did and should have more continuity in year two with Brian Kelly.

However, they lost some key guys to the draft, and Maason Smith will not play in this game. FSU has the better quarterback, and I think the biggest mismatch is FSU receivers against the LSU secondary.

That likely means they won’t bring a guy down in the box against the run, which means FSU running backs should eat in this game. Once they try to stop the run, FSU hits them over the head in the air.

I’m not too worried about LSU’s offense. I don’t think they’ll be able to run the ball at will, and they’ll likely have to depend on Jayden Daniels using his legs again. That’s not going to be enough to outscore FSU.

Scoring Prediction: FSU 34 , LSU 27

Win Share: .60

Projected 2023 Record: 1-0
