FSU football: 5 storylines to follow in week two of 2023 fall camp

Defensive End Depth

FSU football fans know what they have in Jared Verse and Patrick Payton. Verse will likely be a first-round pick next year, and Payton could likely get drafted with a great 2023 season.

FSU has more proven depth at the position with these two players compared to what they had a year ago.

The coaches added Gilber Edmond from the transfer portal, who played over 600 snaps at South Carolina last year.

I’ve been on record to say I thought he was an upgrade over the departed Derrick McLendon. The biggest question was did FSU have another guy on the roster that could develop into a dependable option aside from those three.

Byron Turner Jr. is a name that came out of the scrimmage Sunday night. Can he continue to build on that success? JUCO product Jaden Jones is extremely raw, but has a ton of physical tools.

Dante Anderson is another player that could morph into an option. If they could find two more guys behind Verse and Payton, that would be huge for this season and next year.
