Defensive Line

The defensive line will be a strength of the defense in 2023. As we have documented, the loss of Fabien Lovett last year impacted the defense in games several times. Adam Fuller talked about the depth showing up in fall camp and how big player development has been.

Braden Fiske is going to be a player for the Noles, along with Joshua Farmer and the other usual suspects like Fabien Lovett. The good news is the players behind them are coming along nicely and should be ready to contribute once Fiske and Lovett depart the program after this season.

Byron Turner Jr. seems to have made his mark as the fourth defensive end, which will play valuable snaps to help save Jared Verse and Patrick Payton.

FSU feels like they have hit on many of the young guys in the secondary. Adam Fuller mentioned KJ Kirkland, Conrad Hussey, and Ashlynd Barker as players that will likely play a lot this fall. They are going through the process in determining what the best fit is for each guy.

They expect Akeem Dent and Shyheim Brown to play at an All-ACC level, or at least need them to. The addition of Kevin Knowles to the safety group seems to have filled the depth issue they were trying to fix via the transfer portal with Jalen key, who ultimately went to Alabama. I think this defense is going to be lights out barring injuries.
