Special Teams

This unit is one of those I’m from Missouri so you have to show me type concerns. I know the kickers have been excellent through the first week in camp, but can they take the performances from the range to the course, as golfers would say?

Also, who’s going to feel the void at punt returner left by the departure of Mycah Pittman? FSU has Keon Coleman and Destyn Hill back there.

Winston Wright could get some opportunities. We’ve never seen any of them field punts in an actual FSU game, and we know how badly not having a capable punter can be a detriment to the team.

The good news is they are dynamic athletes that could make some things happen if they can field the punts cleanly. FSU coaches have Trey Benson and Deuce Spann working on kickoff returns. This is an area I’d love to see FSU show some semblance of life.

They have too many dynamic athletes on the team to not have a capable kickoff return game. We saw Benson flash against Boston College, but it was fairly pedestrian beyond that moment.
