Trey Benson

This one isn’t necessarily a concern, but can Trey Benson avoid having games where he’s timid or hesitates? I understand it last year.

Benson was coming off a devastating injury and probably had that in the back of his mind early in the season. He was largely ineffective against LSU, Wake Forest, NC State, and the bowl game against Oklahoma.

However, he had a stretch of games in the second half of the season that saw him emerge as one of the better running backs in the country. It’s his second year in the offense, and he looks to be in phenomenal shape physically.

I expect Benson to surpass 1,000 rushing yards this year, but I do have it in the back of my mind that it’s possible he could have a game or two where he doesn’t run with the same conviction.

The offensive line should be better than last year, but the team doesn’t have the experience of Treshaun Ward to rely on.

Lawrance Toafili looked good when his number got called last year, but Rodney Hill doesn’t have much in-game experience. However, Caziah Holmes has shown he might be a factor in fall camp.

If Benson goes out and performs well against LSU? I think we can cast this concern out the door.
