FSU football: Does 2023 team have 50 percent blue-chip ratio?

This process omits the punter and kicker, and I didn’t include Darrell Jackson Jr. since he’s not eligible to play right now.

Plus, there are a couple of guys I’m not sure are on athletic scholarships or not. Let’s say they are and make them three stars to get to the 85 scholarship total.

If we do that and divide by 43 blue-chip players? That gives us 50.5 percent blue-chip players.

Granted, it’s not a perfect process because some blue-chips will not see the field in 2023. A few three-star players(Rodney Hill, Bless Harris, Joshua Farmer, Shyheim Brown, etc) will likely perform like blue-chip players.

Ultimately, I think it’s safe to say FSU has at least a roster with a 50 percent blue-chip ratio. One thing that stood out while doing this process was how many young guys is on the roster.

I’ve written about how younger players will have their opportunity to get reps during garbage time games in 2023, and step into larger roles in 2024. All this did was confirm that even more. Could FSU compete with a team like Georgia?

I think they have enough talent to pull off the upset, but the margin for error would be real small. They couldn’t afford to turn the ball over multiple times, or allow huge returns on special teams, have a ton of penalties, or fail to score touchdowns in the red zone.  You know, all the little things elite teams do well. Is FSU elite? We’ll find out this season.
