FSU football has one defensive end prospect committed to their 2024 recruiting class with four-star Daniel “DD” Holmes from Gonzaga High School in Washington, DC.

Fans understand how possessing viable pass rushers can greatly impact the defensive side of the football. Just look at redshirt junior Jared Verse, where he had 48 total tackles (17 tackles for loss) and nine sacks last season.

He’ll likely head to the NFL after this season, so it’s important for FSU to continue stockpiling talent in the recruiting game.

They’ll likely need to add 1-2 more pass rushers in the 2024 recruiting class, and one of those targets is four-star DE Booker Pickett Jr.

He announced his top five schools earlier Friday, with FSU football making the list:

Booker Pickett Jr. ranks as the No. 190 player and No. 13 EDGE nationally. He hails from Tampa, Florida, and ranks as the No. 27 player in the Sunshine State. Pickett Jr. has ties to Miami and Ohio State, but visited FSU twice this spring and expects to take an official visit to FSU sometime during the season.

He lists at 6’3″ and 208 pounds, with an incredibly productive junior season last year with 30 sacks. He has an elite first step, but will need to spend some time in a college strength and conditioning program to add to much-needed size. I don’t think the Miami legacy makes Miami a sure-fire school to deal with in his top five, especially since they don’t seem to have the juice on the trail like Mario Cristobal’s first year.

He also grew up an FSU fans. He visited Ohio State this spring once, and didn’t visit Georgia from what I can tell. I don’t think he visited South Carolina this spring. The last time he was on campus at FSU was for a workout his younger brother participated in, and earned a FSU offer.

If I had to guess, he’ll officially visit during that Miami game. He’d be a great get for the Noles if he decides to come to FSU football.
