Confidence

There’s a different confidence and swagger with this program. It starts at the top with Mike Norvell.

He has never come off as not confident, but the language he’s using is much different than when he took over. It used to be he wouldn’t put a limit on what this team could accomplish, but now Mike Norvell is using terms like compete for championships.

Last year I think I recall saying he had a quiet confidence, believing they would be better than everyone thought, and he was right. I think he believes he has enough talent to win the ACC and compete for a College Football Playoff this season.

The players believe it also, and none were more evident than Jared Verse at the ACC Kickoff event. It’s one of the reasons he decided to return for one more season in the garnet and gold. However, it’s not a brash making predictions confidence.

It’s more of a we believe in ourselves, but we have to go out and prove it this year. I think the attitude is they have gone from they want to compete to they expect to win.

I expect them to win a lot of games too.
