FSU football has secured a linebacker commitment with three-star Jayden Parrish from Atlantic High School in Delray Beach, Florida, in their 2024 recruiting class.

The coaching staff really likes what they have evaluated in the talented defensive prospect. As a junior, he had 153 total tackles and four sacks. He also appeared at the running back position, where he had eight rushing touchdowns.

Linebacker recruiting has been a discussion amongst many FSU fans. It is understandable, given the rich history of former players at the position for this university.

On Sunday afternoon, three-star linebacker Timir Hickman-Collins from Indian Land High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina, announced his commitment to the Florida State Seminoles.

Hickman-Collins unofficially visited the Seminoles during their recruiting event yesterday. He has been identified as a priority for FSU since they offered on May 10, 2023.

During his junior season, he had 147 total tackles, six interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), and four sacks. Typically, casual followers of recruiting might look at Hickman-Collins and see his composite three-star ranking. This allows individuals to pass judgements about the evaluation process of linebackers coach Randy Shannon.

However, the linebacker position was a bright spot of the Seminoles’ defense under the guidance of Shannon. Both redshirt seniors Tatum Bethune and Kalen DeLoach were very serviceable linebackers in the conference.

Bethune transferred in from the UCF Knights and was second on the team in total tackles with 84. While DeLoach has been around the program for four years. He finished third on the team in total tackles with 63.

While both players had solid 2022 campaigns, they will exhaust eligibility after this upcoming season. The Seminoles will need to find competent options at the position.

While I don’t expect Hickman-Collins to contribute early on his career with the Seminoles (if he ends up signing with FSU), but he is a nice building block that can developed with the likes of true freshmen Blake Nichelson, DeMarco Ward, Dylan Brown-Turner, and Justin Cryer.
