FSU football has played, but never beaten, these teams

FSU and Oregon met on January 1st, 2015, for the first and only time in history. It was the first year of the College Football Playoff, with FSU looking for the chance to win back-to-back national titles.

The Noles had a 29 game winning streak on the line, but multiple turnovers were too much to overcome, as the Oregon Ducks cruised to a 59-20 victory after leading 18-13 at halftime.

How the game went seemed fitting in hindsight, with FSU following the usual blueprint of playing poorly in the first half before flipping a switch and looking like a team that could beat anyone.

However, that blueprint caught up with them, as Oregon outscored FSU 41-7 in the second half.

There’s more history with Oregon, with FSU hiring Willie Taggart away from the Ducks after Jimbo Fisher left for Texas A&M.

Not only do they have bragging rights with the lone win, but they can also point to the Willie Taggart era at FSU and how badly it went. If there were one team I’d like to rematch at some point, it’s this one.
