How Charles Lester III recruitment differs from Travis Hunter
By Kelvin Hunt
Final Thoughts
There are way more factors favoring this recruitment than two years ago. The shock factor of choosing an HBCU isn’t there. After all, all the talk of changing the game and promoting HBCU’s went up in smoke when Sanders and Travis Hunter left that HBCU within a year. Colorado is in a long-term rebuild, and FSU will be among the top programs nationally in 2023. Charles Lester III has repeated stated FSU feels like home every time he visits.
Now, I know we’re talking about a teenager, and we can’t take everything they say at face value. However, at the same time, I know he can’t make up the ground to build relationships in only two visits that he built in the numerous visits to FSU. Mike Norvell is as detailed as they come, and I would be shocked to see him get burned twice in similar scenarios.
Norvell does have some “get you some” in him, and a small part of me almost believes he will do whatever it takes to win this recruitment.
Talk about a way to establish some momentum heading into fall camp. I don’t believe Mike Norvell has anything personal against Deion Sanders, but I know he wants to avoid what that perception would be if history repeated itself.
After all, it’s a competition, and both guys are doing their jobs to acquire the best talent possible. However, in this rematch, I believe Mike Norvell has way more tools in the toolbox to avoid losing this rematch. I’m still confident Lester will choose FSU on July 28th.
For the FSU fans whining and complaining before anything happens? It’s ridiculous. Lester could visit Colorado and then visit FSU before making his decision. He could commit elsewhere and still ultimately sign with FSU in December. See Brock Glenn’s recruitment last year.
Until something concrete happens, stop allowing a teenager’s decision to influence you to behave like a teenager yourself.
