FSU football: Top 15 important defensive players for 2023 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Akeem Dent
I mentioned not placing as much value on the safety position this season. Akeem Dent is the most productive and proven option.
Dent has dealt with injuries throughout his FSU career, and last year was no different. However, his production through the first half of last season was impressive.
He tallied 10 tackles against Louisville, eight against Wake Forest, and nine against NC State. It’s his final year in the garnet and gold, and hopefully, he’ll finally reach the potential of his near five-star status coming out of high school.
The injuries have hurt his career no question, but his lack of focus has cost him to. However, I believe the improved front seven will allow him to simplify things more, which should result in better play overall.
