FSU football: Top 15 important defensive players for 2023 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Braden Fiske
Western Michigan defensive tackle transfer Braden Fiske finds himself at the No. 10 spot. I’d have him higher if he didn’t miss all spring camp rehabbing from an injury.
Fiske brings much-needed versatility to the defensive line.
He can play defensive tackle with the quickness to get penetration up the middle and collapse the pocket. He can also swing wide to play defensive end and affect the quarterback.
I mentioned the depth at defensive end as a concern for some fans, and the addition of Fiske helps alleviate those worries for me(provided he gets fully healthy).
Fiske is a guy with a high motor, and 20 percent of his total tackles went for a loss last season. .
If Fabien Lovett or Darrell Jackson needs a breather (or Jackson doesn’t receive his waiver), Fiske is the guy who will play many meaningful snaps in 2023.
