Running Backs Potentially Better Than 2022

The running back group lost Treshaun Ward to the transfer portal, who was the second-leading rusher. However, FSU returns Trey Benson, who overtook the top running back role as the season progressed.

Lawrence Toafili returns in his Swiss Army knife do-it-all role, and redshirt freshman Rodney Hill’s emergence is likely a contributing reason to Ward entering the portal.

Then there’s CJ Campbell and often forgotten Caziah Holmes, plus true freshman Samuel Singleton joining the unit. Talent-wise, this unit blows last year’s out of the water because we know Benson’s 100 percent recovered from the knee injury.

We know what Toafili brings, and Hill looks to have more overall tools than Ward, he only lacks the game experience. Campbell and Holmes, especially Holmes, could be big-time contributors in the right situation.

The offensive line should be better. The passing game should be better, and that should open more things for the running backs in 2023.

My biggest question is what version of Trey Benson will we get in early 2023? Will we get the hesitant and timid version, or the version that ran wild over teams for most of the second-half of last season.
