Trey Benson

I know some folks may wonder why I have Trey Benson ahead of Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman. It’s simple, Mike Norvell wants to establish the run game to set up explosive passing plays.

Trey Benson will be the number one option at running back, so there’s that. Benson was electric in the second half of last season, surpassing the 100-yard rushing mark in four of the final six games(it would have been five if they didn’t sit him in the second half against Louisiana).

He also began to ge more comfortable in the receiving game, with half of his 13 receptions coming in the final few games.

If he remains healthy, Benson should easily surpass 1,000 rushing yards as the featured back in the offense. I’m sure they’ll use him wisely in games they expect to win comfortably.

I think the should have him pretend every head coach they face is Mario Cristobal and watch him morph into Dalvin Cook 2.0.
