Building Around Jordan Travis

The first two points have been incredibly important, but FSU wouldn’t be where it is right now without the development and progression of Jordan Travis at quarterback.

The decision to finally go with him as the full-time starter before the Syracuse game was key.

However, Travis had a history of injuries and missing practice time that slowed his development, along with the staff’s insistence on giving McKenzie Milton every opportunity to play. However, once they settled on Jordan Travis and began to build the offense around his skillset?

The offense has morphed into one of the top offenses in the country. Jordan Travis is one reason FSU got offensive playmakers like Johnny Wilson, Mycah Pittman, Jaheim Bell, and Keon Coleman from the portal.

Their improvement year-over-year is why they can get quality offensive linemen from the transfer portal. Now, that success is trickling over into high school recruiting, where FSU has its best class on paper thus far, with almost a 70 percent blue-chip ratio.

It was risky move by Mike Norvell to push the chips in on Jordan Travis at QB. I called for the staff to take a transfer portal QB before 2022 spring camp because of his injury history. However, they decided Jordan Travis was their guy, and it paid off big time.

Kudos to Jordan Travis for working to become something almost nobody believed was possible and to the coaching staff for sticking with him. His decision to return for the 2023 season helped set FSU football up for much success in the future.
