FSU football is still searching for the first defensive end commitment of its 2024 recruiting class.
The Seminoles will most likely have to replace the likes of redshirt senior Fabien Lovett Sr., redshirt senior Braden Fiske, redshirt senior Dennis Briggs Jr., redshirt junior Jared Verse, and maybe even redshirt sophomore Patrick Payton at the end of the 2023 season.

As a result, it will be more important than ever to acquire talented prospects on the defensive line to soften the blow of losing those particular key contributors.

One prospect to monitor in this recruiting cycle is four-star defensive end Daniel “DD” Holmes from Gonzaga High School in Washington, DC, who officially visited the Seminoles this past weekend.

He has had a busy official visit this summer where he visited Rutgers (June 2-4), South Carolina (June 9-11), Maryland (June 16-18), and Florida State (June 23-25).

The Washington, DC, native might have saved the best official visit for the last impression.
On Friday afternoon, Holmes received a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Seminoles with a confidence level of 6 out of 10 from 247Sports’ National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn.

He also went on his Instagram account (@ddho1mes) and stated “IG LIVE TMR (tomorrow) AT 2 PM BIG NEWS!” with a picture collaboration of him in Maryland, South Carolina, Florida State, and Rutgers uniforms on his story.

Does that mean that Holmes will announce his commitment to the Seminoles? Or will it just be a shrinking of his top school’s list?

In my opinion, I believe that he intends to commit to the school of his choice. It wouldn’t make much sense to shrink a top school’s list again when there are only four universities in the running.

FSU fans certainly hope so as the Seminoles’ 2024 recruiting class only possesses three commitments that are on the defensive side of the football, in four-star safety CJ Heard, three-star defensive tackle Jamorie Flagg, and three-star linebacker Jayden Parrish.

Head football coach Mike Norvell tried to warn individuals about there being fireworks in July. It seems like the Seminoles are about to find their stride in recruiting as the month begins.
