FSU football: 2024 LB target Michael Boganowski receives Kansas St. prediction
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has one 2024 linebacker committed, with only a handful of players offered in this recruiting cycle. Recently, I wrote a hypothesis about the coaching staff not valuing the position as much as teams have in the past. It’s the only logical explanation with only 10 offers out there, plus they are not pursuing an highly-ranked players.
In a nutshell, I think they are choosing to use resources at other positions they value more. However, they had one blue-chip linebacker target on campus recently, Michael Bogonowski, who hails from Junction City, Kansas.
He officially visited FSU, Oklahoma, Stanford, and Kansas State in June. However, it should come as no surprise he will likely stay in the midwest, according to the latest prediction. A Kansas State insider issued a crystal ball prediction favoring the Wildcats with a five confidence Tuesday.
I wrote more in-depth about linebacker recruiting here if you missed it. They signed three linebackers in the 2023 recruiting class, with Omar Graham Jr. redshirting last season. I think they’ll use this season as a training ground for these young players once games get into garbage time.
They’ll likely look towards the transfer portal for more experience to give these young guys a little more time to gain experience before taking over in 2025. I should note there are not many blue-chip linebackers in Florida and Georgia in this recruiting cycle.
The guys with offers remaining do not reside in those two states. I tend to agree the linebacker position is a bit overrated. I’ve said it before, but compare the careers of Tatum Bethune and Kalen Deloach.
There was a massive gap in their high school ranking, but Bethune has had the more productive career thus far. DeLoach is the better athlete with more potential, but production is production. I wonder if FSU will look to push for another linebacker commit in this class?
I have my doubts based on the current offers, and they don’t seem to be eager to expand the board at all.
