The Miami Hurricanes had a disaster of a year in 2021. I told Miami fans all offseason the hire of Kevin Steele was a joke, and he wasn’t any good. Steele is no longer there because FSU just scored again as you’re reading this. Mario Cristobal hired a relatively unknown defensive coordinator in Lance Guidry. Guidry comes to Miami from Marshall, ironically, the same place FSU coordinator Adam Fuller coached before joining Mike Norvell at Memphis.

Miami has some talent on its roster and could improve with better coordination. They couldn’t stop the run last year and got burned over the top by a ton of teams, including FSU and Middle Tennessee State. They return two of the better safeties in the ACC. I don’t think Guidry is some defensive savant, but I don’t think they can be worse than last year. They’ll likely be some growing pains, but there is talent on the roster.
