FSU softball: How can the Noles beat Oklahoma for a national title?
By Kelvin Hunt
I’ve been writing about FSU softball for years and have watched what Coach Lonni Alameda has with this program. They are a team that can win in a multitude of ways.
They don’t rely solely on home runs to score. They can hit for power and average and pressure teams with speed on the bases.
They have a deep pitching staff, with one of the best pitchers in the country, Kathryn Sandercock. Some folks believe it’s a foregone conclusion that Oklahoma will defeat FSU softball for the national title.
After all, Oklahoma has won a gazillion games in a row and defeated FSU 5-4 earlier this year on their home field.
That game is a prime example of why Oklahoma is so good. It’s also a prime example of how many mistakes FSU made, and still had a chance to win that game.
The margin for error is razor thin when playing against elite teams. It’s the game within the game where the differences reveal themselves.
It goes unrecognized to the casual fan. Let’s break down the game from March 14th to explain it all.
