1. Linebacker

It is difficult not to think about life without Tatum Bethune and Kalen DeLoach. The Redshirt seniors will be playing in their final seasons in 2023.

That leaves redshirt junior DJ Lundy as the unquestioned leader of the unit. The depth at the linebacker unit is somewhat uncertain given that the depth behind Lundy is redshirt freshman Omar Graham Jr. (who hasn’t had meaningful reps), true freshman Blake Nichelson, true freshman DeMarco Ward, and true freshman Dylan Brown-Turner.

Linebackers coach Randy Shannon has got one linebacker prospect to commit in the 2024 recruiting cycle with three-star Jayden Parrish.

Of course, the Seminoles would like to acquire more since big-time contributors Bethune and DeLoach will be in their final seasons. However, the target board has been underwhelming with prospects such as four-star Edwin Spillman, three-star Michael Boganowski, three-star Zavier Hamilton, three-star Jeremiah Marcelin, and unranked Zach Smith.

None of the prospects seem to be leaning toward FSU at this time. As a result, the coaching staff might have to venture out into the transfer portal to obtain veteran options as well as young contributors.
