FSU football: 2024 blue-chip OL target trending to USC?
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches started hosting major targets on official visits last week. The Noles had six players on campus over the past few days, but the majority of their top targets will be on campus the June 23 weekend.
However, one of those targets took an official visit to USC this past weekend, and several crystal ball projections have him trending in their direction.
The blue-chip target is Manasse Itete, who’s from Modesto, California. Itete visited Tallahassee for the first time in April and immediately set up an official visit with the Noles for June.
The Noles even received a crystal ball projection after the April visit, but we know things are fluid in the recruiting world. It makes sense, with Itete coming from the west coast, and all of his official visits are with schools out west, aside from FSU football.
It was his first official visit, so is Itete a player heavily influenced by what’s happening in the moment, since he said he almost committed to FSU while on campus in April?
He’ll officially visit Oregon State on June 9, Utah on June 16, and FSU on June 23. What will he communicate after visiting the other two west coast schools? Will he still make the June 23 official visit to FSU?
If so, will the coaches push hard for him, or have they moved him down on their recruiting board? They had a higher-ranked player officially visiting over the weekend in Nyier Daniels.
Daniels ranks No. 156 overall and the No. 10 offensive tackle nationally. Itete ranks No. 314 overall and the No. 28 offensive tackle nationally. The good news is Alex Atkins is the main recruiter, and I trust his judgment and evaluations.
It was interesting to see how quickly the projections for USC came after officially visiting. If he cancels the June 23 visit to FSU, I think we can assume there are bigger fish to fry since they plan to be selective with the offensive linemen they take this recruiting cycle.
