Clemson

  • 33.2 PPG
  • 5.60 YPP
  • 47.6 percent third down conversion
  • 72.5 pecent Red Zone TD percentage
  • No. 49 FEI

It was a down year for Clemson offensively, but we still saw improvement over the 2021 season. Clemson made the QB transition to freshman Cade Klubnik near the end of the season, and he’ll be the starter in 2023.

Dabo Swinney fired his offensive coordinator and hired one of the better ones in TCU’s Garrett Riley. Clemson returns its leading rusher, Will Shipley and Phil Mafah.

The issues for Clemson aside from lacking an elite QB like in years past was an average offensive line and lacking elite wide receivers like they had when they were at their peak. Klubnik will be an upgrade as a passer over DJ Uiagalelei.

The challenge for him will be learning a new offense and lack of experience, plus losing two proven targets in tight ends, Joseph Nagata and Davis Allen. They return leading receiver, sophomore Antonio Williams.

Luckily, FSU will face Clemson in the fourth game in 2023, so they’ll be trying to find their identity with an inexperienced QB.
