Man, talk about wasting talent. Florida had a quarterback (Anthony Richardson) drafted inside the top five overall and struggled through the air in several games. The crazy part is Florida lost that quarterback and several offensive linemen through the transfer portal. They didn’t have much of a receiving unit last year, which was part of their struggles in the passing game. They return leading receiver Ricky Pearsall but have question marks at the quarterback position. Florida’s quarterback issues border on crisis mode from a production and talent standpoint.

The only saving grace is even though Florida lost some offensive linemen to the portal its offensive line should remain a strength. They also return a dynamic stable of running backs led by Montrell Johnson and Trevor Ettiene. I can see Billy Napier leaning on the running game to hide the issues at the quarterback position. Richardson’s draft selection was projection based and a huge gamble. While he helped the offense from an explosive standpoint, it’s possible Florida’s offense could be more consistent and effective in 2023, despite his departure. It also helps the Gators to have all season to figure out their identity by the time FSU travels to Gainesville for the season finale.
