Duke

  • 32.8 PPG
  • 6.11 YPP
  • 41.8 percent third down conversion
  • 62.5 pecent Red Zone TD percentage
  • No. 29 FEI

I know this seems blasphemous to have Duke this high as an offense. However, they were incredibly efficient, sneaky explosive, and rarely had turnovers. The production and the experience returning are why they’re so high on this list. Quarterback Riley Leonard will return, resembling a poor man’s Jordan Travis as a dual-threat option. He led the team in rushing attempts, yardage, touchdowns and passed for nearly 3,000 yards, with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Duke returns a trio of running backs who had production last year and all their top receiving options. Leonard will be behind an offensive line with continuity, who led the ACC with only 51 tackles for a loss allowed. We’ll see how good this offense is when they face Clemson in game one. Duke will travel to Tallahassee after facing Notre Dame and NC State in back-to-back weeks with a bye-week in between. There’s a good chance their lack of talent from a depth perspective could come into play by then.
