Four-star CB Wardell Mack

The Seminoles have one defensive back committed to their 2024 recruiting class in three-star safety CJ Heard from Atlanta, Georgia.

However, defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has positioned FSU well with highly-touted prospects. For reference, five-star cornerback Charles Lester III and five-star safety KJ Bolden are their top two targets.

But, as we all know, recruiting is considered an unpredictable situation that features teenagers making one of the hardest decisions in their lifetimes. As a result, it is always a good idea to possess options in case something does not go your way.

That does not mean that four-star cornerback Wardell Mack from John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana is someone that the coaching staff doesn’t value highly. Given that Mack is from the Louisiana area, running back coach/recruiting coordinator David Johnson has been working relentlessly to get him to campus for a visit.

We all know how Johnson’s recruiting efforts panned out for Louisiana natives such as Destyn Hill and Greedy Vance Jr.

The cornerback prospect was finally made it down to Tallahassee for an unofficial visit on April 1, 2023. The first trip to FSU made an impact on Mack, as he has decided to officially visit the campus this weekend.

While it might seem that the home-state LSU Tigers are the leaders in this recruitment, Coach Johnson has single-handedly inserted the Seminoles into the conversation.
