Still Transfer Portal Kings

While recruiting sites and casual fans got caught up in high school recruiting rankings, Mike Norvell was busy implementing a transfer portal formula to transform FSU from a has-been to a national contender.

That formula hasn’t changed much except Mike Norvell isn’t using the portal to flip the roster anymore.

The days of taking fliers on guys that were backups at other Power 5 schools and turning them into starters at FSU have gone by the wayside.

The players FSU take from the portal nowadays were starters at Power 5 schools or All-Conference selections at mid-major programs that have had a lot of success.

Mike Norvell has taken 10 players from the transfer portal, 80 percent have a blue-chip ranking and will likely start or play significant snaps in 2023.

It’s why I wrote FSU has the best transfer portal class compared to a few other schools recruiting sites have ranked above them based on quantity instead of quality.

Oh, and Mike Norvell has beaten some big-time schools for many of these transfer players.
