FSU football: Top 5 things we learned from spring 2023

Program Built For Sustained Success
This aspect might be the thing that excites me the most. It was tough as an FSU football fan from 2017-2021. The toxic departure of Jimbo Fisher, the FSU administration not doing their homework on the Willie Taggart hiring, and Mike Norvell enduring a pandemic in year one that handicapped a coach trying to get this program out of the muck.
However, the foundation is in place and FSU football looks poised to stay among the top programs in the nation for years to come. Why do I say that? It’s a couple of things, but this spring made it abundantly apparent.
QB recruiting is arguably one of the most important things a head coach has to get right. The way FSU football has targeted and gotten traction with high-quality high-school recruits is a tell-tale sign. Once Jordan Travis leaves, FSU will have someone in Tate Rodemaker with years of experience in Mike Norvell’s office to take over.
Another option could be former blue-chip QB AJ Duffy or Brock Glenn beating Rodemaker for the starting job, with highly-touted FSU commit Luke Kromenhoek enrolling. Not only that, but FSU already has a 2025 QB commit and getting traction with others in that class and beyond.
It’s like that at nearly every position. As guys get ready to graduate or head to the NFL, young players are waiting in the wings. Once Fabien Lovett and Braden Fiske depart the program, players like Joshua Farmer, Daniel Lyons, and Ayobame Tifase will step up.
Once Johnny Wilson departs, players like Hykeem Williams and Vandrevius Jacobs will be waiting. I could go on and on.
