FSU football: Ranking the top ACC teams for the 2023 season
By Kelvin Hunt
NC State
Record (8-5)
FEI offense ranking- No. 96
FEI defense ranking- No. 12
FEI overall ranking- No. 48
The 2022 season was the season for Dave Doeren and NC State to make some noise. They returned their starting QB and lots of experience on both sides of the ball. However, the offense was poor even before FSU football ended Devin Leary’s season(and still gave that game away).
NC State had to go with true freshman MJ Morris and others, and they found ways to lose to Boston College, Louisville, and Maryland in their bowl game.
Their 2023 schedule sets up nicely with all of their toughest games at home. They play Notre Dame, Clemson, Louisville, Miami, and North Carolina at home. I had Doeren as the third best coach in the ACC in a piece a couple of weeks ago.
Doeren has had this NC State program fairly consistent, and around 7-9 wins is the expectation other than two seasons with losing records. The home stretch listed above will dictate how well their season goes.
