FEI defense ranking- No. 72

FEI overall ranking- No. 101

The first year in Blacksburg didn’t go as great as most Hokie fans wanted in 2022. New head coach Brent Pry started his tenure with a loss to Old Dominion on the road. However, they rebounded to win against Boston College and Wofford in a convincing fashion.

The only problem is they wouldn’t beat another Power 5 program the rest of the season, with their final win a one-point victory against Liberty. To their credit, they lost against Georgia Tech and NC State by one point and only lost to Miami by six points. I’m not sure the Hokies ever reclaim their glory years under Frank Beamer.
