Final Thoughts

This statement is probably blasphemy, but not making the post-season could be a blessing in disguise. After all, the likelihood of winning the College World Series was pretty much zero.

In the grand scheme, keeping the post-season streak alive is cool, but if you don’t have a real shot of winning, does it really matter?

This extra time allows Link Jarrett to get started on what needs to happen so this team can begin a new streak of making the postseason and competing for the elusive College World Series Championship.

That process begins with assessing the roster, determining who is staying or leaving, and hitting the transfer portal to fill needs.

The late arrival of Link Jarrett in Tallahassee after he took Notre Dame to the College World Series last year is one reason why he couldn’t maximize the transfer portal to benefit FSU in year one.

That won’t be the case now, and I expect the roster to improve drastically between high school/JUCO recruiting and the transfer portal. FSU lost nine one-run games in 2023, and with better pitching, probably win most of those.

If you want to know what Link Jarrett thinks? He already has four JUCO pitchers committed for next year.
