Dave Clawson-Wake Forest

Dave Clawson is 149-133 overall as a head coach who took over a Wake Forest program that failed to make a bowl game in the two years before he got hired.

Clawson has turned Wake Forest into a respectable program after winning six games in his first two seasons. His overall record at Wake Forest is 59-53, and was 29-42 in the tougher ACC Atlantic Division.

Clawson’s 2021 Wake Forest squad won the ACC Atlantic Division in 2021, and he captured ACC Coach of the Year honors.

If you can win at Wake Forest, you’re a good coach, though Clawson probably got a little lucky with the COVID year and retaining so many super seniors.

It also helped that FSU football chose to make dumb decisions and not play big-boy football for a few years.

We’ll see how good of a coach Clawson is in 2023 when he has to replace his QB and several guys exhausting eligibility.
