FSU football: Jordan Travis from transfer to Heisman Watch
By Jason Zang
In 2020, Jordan rotated in the lineup with James Blackman, Tate Rodemaker, and Chubby Purdy. This was Mike Norvell’s first season with the team, and it was also a tough offseason with COVID limiting everything.
None of the quarterbacks ran away with the starting job, but James Blackman was named the stater. However, Jordan Travis came into the Jacksonville State game to lead the Noles in a come-from-behind victory which cemented him as the starter until he was hurt.
2021 was supposed to be Jordan’s year, but UCF transfer McKenzie Milton transferred in with the possibility he could resurrect his career and get back to his play from before his major knee injury. Travis started the season but got injured late in the first game against Notre Dame.
Milton stepped in and almost won the game. Norvell started Milton in the next three games trying to play off the momentum from the first game. That didn’t work out, with Milton looking like a shell of his former self. Travis took over as the starter against Syracuse and started the rest of the season. He got better as the season went on and finished as the second leading rusher on the team, while improving greatly as a passer over the final three games.
