The Value Of  The Transfer Portal Compared To High School Recruiting

I have been one of the few folks out in front of the value of transfer portal recruiting compared to high schoolers.

I understood what Mike Norvell was doing when he was taking smaller high school classes and loading up on transfer portal players. It’s the only reason FSU has turned things around so quickly.

If FSU wanted, they could go back into the transfer portal next year for another defensive tackle. However, would they want to spend two years developing another defensive tackle and potentially lose them to the transfer portal?

Probably not, but it’s something the staff will have to weigh moving forward, but the good news is they are recruiting a higher-caliber high school player like signee Keith Sampson in the 2023 recruiting class.

At the end of the day, it’s a new day and age in college football, and these things will happen more frequently because FSU has good players on its roster, unlike a few years ago.

However, FSU’s return to being among the top programs in college football means they can compete for the best players in the transfer portal if they have to also.
