FSU football: 3 lessons learned from Joshua Farmer saga

Trust FSU Evaluations and Development
This aspect was one of the first things I thought about when rumors about Farmer hitting the portal began to swirl.
Farmer had one offer and no ranking when FSU offered and accepted his commitment a few days afterward.
He was the first recruit to commit to Mike Norvell in the 2020 recruiting class when he was 6’3″ and 250 pounds. He eventually earned a three-star ranking as the No. 79 defensive tackle nationally.
Mike Norvell and the staff still get complaints about accepting commitments from three-star players. However, their track record speaks for itself, but back then, it was the end of the world that the first commit was a guy that didn’t have any stars.
Fast forward a couple of years, and credit to Farmer for putting in the work and adding 50 pounds to his frame, and Farmer’s one of the most sought-after defensive tackles nationally, who would probably start and several ACC and SEC schools this season.
It’s a testament to the depth FSU has at the position. It’s also a testament to the staff’s ability to evaluate and project players while developing them into impact players.
In short, learn to trust the staff’s evaluations.
