FSU football learned it could lose one of its top reserve defensive tackles to the transfer portal earlier this week.

Joshua Farmer tweeted he planned to enter the transfer portal a few days ago, but he officially entered the portal Thursday morning after going back and forth with the decision and continuing to talk with FSU football.

Farmer isn’t a player that will start on this year’s team, but he likely log a couple of hundred snaps this season with FSU rotating several defensive tackles and playing while FSU blew the doors off several teams.

I mentioned the loss hurts more next year than the upcoming season, with FSU losing at least two defensive tackles in Fabien Lovett and Braden Fiske.

Ultimately, that might have been one of the biggest reasons why Farmer officially withdrew his name from the portal Thursday evening and elected to stay with FSU football.

Nevertheless, there are lessons to learn from this saga, and I’m sure Mike Norvell will devise a way to handle similar situations in the future.

Because course, they will happen with how the game works nowadays.
