Rodney Hill

The departure of FSU fan favorite Treshaun Ward to the transfer portal was bittersweet, but knowing a young running back like Rodney Hill was waiting in the wings made it more digestible.

Hill flashed in four games last year before redshirting, totaling 144 yards and one touchdown on 27 carries. However, the departure of Ward opened up a spot for him to claim as his own in spring 2023, and that’s exactly what Hill did.

Hill showed good speed and power last year, but those attributes have improved even more. Hill has shown the ability to break multiple tackles for big yards, and to change the numbers on the scoreboard.

Ward was good enough to get to the second level of defenses, but Hill can do that and take it to the house.

I expect Hill to be a solid option to spell Trey Benson this season. Hill can also catch the ball out of the backfield and do damage. It’s like we thought Hill could be a guy, but this spring camp proved that to be the case.

He only needs to continue to hit the weight room to get bigger and stronger so he can shoulder more of the load in the future.
