FSU football recruiting picked up another commitment for its 2024 class when blue-chip athlete B.J. Gibson announced his commitment to the Noles Saturday night.

It was the second 2024 commitment for the Noles this week. Gibson is different than most football commitments because he expects to play baseball in college. It’s why he tagged FSU baseball in his commitment post.

Gibson ranks as the No. 375 player nationally and the No. 34 athlete. He hails from Wilcox County High School in Rochelle, Georgia.

He chose the Noles over others like Florida, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and others.

Gibson was previously committed to Tennessee for baseball. He ranks as a top 100 baseball player and will likely play wide receiver for the Noles. Gibson checks in at 6′ 0″ and 170 pounds.

Impact

Gibson is the fourth wide receiver commit in the class, and I’m somewhat surprised they accepted his commitment this early, considering they have other targets remaining on the board, and all of their commits seem to be in the same mold size-wise.

It’s possible Gibson could ultimately stick with baseball too, similar to how Marvin Bracey chose track over football over a decade ago. Nevertheless, Gibson is an excellent athlete from the Peach State, an area I’ve constantly said FSU needed to put more emphasis on instead of other areas like Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Gibson gives the Noles 10 commitments in its 2024 recruiting class and moves them back into the No. 6 spot nationally. FSU has a 60 percent blue-chip ratio. FSU coaches did a great job getting some great talent on campus for its spring game.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see another commitment before the weekend is over. Congrats to B.J. Gibson on committing to his “dream” school.
