FSU baseball (13-18, 4-11 ACC) looks to break their skid against the No. 3 Florida Gators (27-6, 9-3 SEC) Tuesday evening in Gainesville, Florida.

The Noles choked away a late lead against the Gators at Dick Howser Stadium a couple of weeks back.

The Noles have lost 15 of their last 17 games, and several of those losses haven’t been close. The Gators won two of three against No. 11 Tennessee on the road in their last outing. It’s not a good spot for the Noles to get back on track, but it doesn’t get any easier with a road trip to NC State on deck this weekend.

FSU hasn’t been able to put it together lately, aside from Jackson Baumeister’s ACC Pitcher of the Week performance against Clemson last week. The offense scored early, and he shut them down for seven innings before giving away to Carson Montgomery.

The offense hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire during this stretch either, but there have been several games where the Noles have had to play from behind almost immediately.

FSU’s woes start with the starting pitching, as most have failed to produce many innings, which has tapped into an already shallow bullpen that lacks experience. FSU has played without their best pitcher, Wyatt Crowell, since he made his first career start against Pittsburgh on March 11th.

Freshman Ben Barrett will get his second start against the Gators this year. He went four innings, allowing one earned run and four hits, while striking out two and walking none.

FSU baseball needs it in the worst way, as they are in danger of missing the postseason for the first time in over 40 years unless they turn things around quickly. The game will air on the SEC+ channel at 6 p.m. ET. The Gators have won 20 of their last 24 against the Noles.
