FSU baseball (12-15, 3-9 ACC) has lost 10 consecutive games, including getting swept in their last two ACC series. In fact, they have gotten blown out in four of their last five losses.

However, they’ll have an opportunity to end the losing streak and get on the winning side when they host Jacksonville Tuesday night. The only problem is Jacksonville has played the Noles extremely tough over the past couple of years.

The good news is FSU bested the Dolphins 11-2 in an earlier matchup this season. However, that doesn’t guarantee anything with how the Noles have looked over the past 14 games. The pitching and defense have been abysmal, and the offense isn’t producing near the levels they were earlier in the season.

It’s like they have felt the pressure of having to score nearly every inning to give the team a shot to win games, especially when the pitching usually allows opposing teams to score first and often.

FSU baseball is a team that lacks confidence in every aspect right now. They’re hitting well below .300 as a team (.284) and striking out in 25 percent of their at-bats.

Their on-base percentage has plummeted to .355. Link Jarrett is going to have to find a way to instill confidence in their guys again. The team’s pitching was always going to be an issue, but the offense wasn’t supposed to be this bad.

They have 28 games left and have nothing to lose at this point. Their chances of making the postseason are slim to none, and it’ll be on the offense to carry this team. I think this team needs a little spark from somewhere so they can play carefree again.

Jacksonville dropped two of three games against a high-powered FGCU team over the weekend. However, they have to smell blood in the water of how the Noles have looked lately.

Hopefully, the guys will play with some heart and get a win. The game will start at 6 p.m. and air on the ACCNX channel.
