Special Teams

Special teams saw improvement last year, especially in kickoff return defense and punt return and punt return defense.

The absence of Mycah Pittman due to injury has opened the door for someone else to emerge as a punt returner. Ja’Khi Douglas, Winston Wright, Dre Jacobs, and Azareye’h Thomas are getting reps there.

Douglas is the only guy to return a punt on this list while at FSU, and that was back in 2020 as a freshman. Pittman was a major upgrade at that spot in 2022, so it’s important to find a replacement since there’s a shot he won’t be back before or during the season.

FSU football fans understand the field goal kicking wasn’t great last year, but Ryan Fitzgerald did manage to turn things around and make some kicks in the second half of the season.

FSU brought in some competition at the postion, and that’s something they’ll continue to grade throughout spring, summer, and fall.
