Offensive Takeaways

The offensive line had some veteran guys held out, which meant more reps for younger players and transfers. It’s a new language for those guys coming from different programs, which likely contributed to the higher amount of penalties for this unit and the tight ends.

Alex Atkins likes to cross-train players at different positions, which could also contribute to higher penalties as guys learn multiple positions.

It’s not something I’m particularly concerned about because it’s an experience and lack of reps thing. I’d expect these things will improve as the players get more reps in the system.

The good news is there were still lots of explosive plays made by the offense without Jordan Travis taking snaps. I’m surprised we didn’t hear about Caziah Holmes at all, unless he didn’t participate for some reasons. He’s a guy I’m high on going into 2023.

It sounds like there is a lot of competition happening on both sides of the ball, which indicates guys pushing one another to improve.
