Gilber Edmond

South Carolina transfer defensive end Gilber Edmond is one of my favorite additions from the transfer portal.

The guy is a physical specimen who played nearly 600 snaps last season at 6’5″ and 250 pounds. That’s an incredible amount of snaps at the DE position, which likely means he played a ton of snaps gassed.

He won’t need to play that many at FSU in 2023, which means he’ll have more opportunities to go all out. That should result in an uptick in havoc/impact plays. He had nine tackles for a loss, and nine quarterback hurries last season.

Edmond has already gotten high praise from Jared Verse, who credits Edmond for being farther along in his acclimation this spring that Verse was transferring from the FCS level.

I’m not sure if Edmond will start, but a strong spring will solidify his spot in the rotation at the position.

Keep an eye out for how many times the coaches and teammates say his name this spring.
