FSU football began its 2023 spring camp Monday in helmets and shorts as the players prepare for their first fully-padded practice Friday.

The first day was about what you’d expect with respective units conducting drills and working on the fundamentals. It’s hard to take away much from the underwear Olympics other than noticing some units have added great size and some newcomers have displayed excellent athleticism.

Those were two facets missing two years ago, along with overall depth, with the latter costing the Noles in their three losses last season.

However, 19 players, a combination of transfer portal and early enrollees has helped eliminate most of those issues.

Those players enrolling early will be huge for their development, and they’ll make up the bulk of the list we’ll be talking about in this piece.

FSU had several guys emerge as major contributors last year: Jared Verse, Johnny Wilson, Mycah Pittman, Renardo Green, Patrick Payton, D’Mitri Emmanuel, Robert Scott, Markeston Douglas, and Lawrence Toafili come to mind.

I think some guys are on the cusp of emerging into this category. Let’s look at five under the radar guys to keep an eye on during spring camp.
