Coaching Continuity

FSU football fans have been vocal in their dislike for some of the FSU coaches over the past three years, but Mike Norvell has been steadfast in his process, only losing three coaches from this original staff(not counting TJ Rushing, who never coaches in a game).

Randy Shannon replaced Chris Marve as linebacker coach and has been an upgrade. Alex Atkins replaced Kenny Dillingham but was already on staff, and Patrick Surtain has replaced Marcus Woodson over the past couple of months.

The latter remains to be seen if it’s an upgrade, but there’s a strong belief that will be the case. The offense and defense have improved dramatically since year one, and special teams saw a huge leap in 2022(aside from field goal kicking).

It only makes sense for the three phases to continue their trajectory improving with the number of players returning and understanding the expectations of coaches that have been at FSU with Mike Norvell since day one.

If you don’t believe coaching continuity is important, look at what’s happening at Miami. Look at FSU in the transition between Jimbo Fisher, Willie Taggart, and Mike Norvell. Coaching continuity coupled with the most talented roster Mike Norvell has had at FSU? Bank on it.
