FSU football: Biggest needs in 2024 recruiting class
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches did a great job solidifying their top prep recruiting targets in the 2023 class. It’s why almost all of their commits signed early, and nearly half enrolled in the spring.
That calculation allowed the coaching staff to get an early start on the 2024 recruiting cycle, and why they already have nine commitments. That’s over double the number they had in the 2023 recruiting cycle this time a year ago.
Not only that, but they have some top targets already committed to important positions. Most importantly, they have the quarterback position taken care of in blue-chip Luke Kromenhoek. Kromenhoek is much better than his ranking, which should continue to skyrocket as it has since he committed as a three-star.
Five-star running back commit Kameron Davis is arguably the best running back in the nation. FSU has two blue-chip wide receivers committed in legacy recruit Camdon Frier and speedster TJ Abrams. Top 100 safety Jordan Pride lists as a commit, but that could be shaky at the moment.
If things change and he opts out of that commitment, there are plenty of top-tier targets on FSU’s recruiting board. Plus, they already have a commitment from blue-chip safety CJ Heard.
Three-star defensive end Jamorie Flagg is a commit that’s beginning to garner a lot of attention, just as I said he would when he committed. Three-star defensive tackle Keishawn Mashburn and one of the top kickers nationally, Jake Weinberg, round out all the commits.
That’s a lot of roster needs already addressed, but let’s look at the biggest remaining needs.
